February 17, 2009 was not a date to remember...until today.

Capcom made it official today, on February 17, 2009 Street Fighter 4 will be released on the PS3 and XBOX360.

This was basically my reacton when I heard the news (I'm on the right)

Critereon announces YET ANOTHER round of DLC!

This time around, users will be able to download a variety of Toy Cars for use in Paradise City. Further expanding the very wide variety of vehicles people can choose to race and compete with in the giant coastal city.

Last week the Legendary Cars pack was announced Featuring a car that appears to be the Deloreans second-cousin and some yet unrevealed cars. I'm hoping for a Batmobile and KITT look-alike.

2 weeks ago, the Burnout Paradise Party Pack was announced.

The Critereon team has gone above and beyond what is expected of them. Releaseing as of now, 3 massive DLC updates that were completely FREE, adding Bikes and a day/night cycle to the game and expanding on in-game options and overall game quality. There is still more FREE DLC on the way as well as these car packs which are very reasonably priced.

Burnout Paradise can be purchased through PSN via the PlayStation Store or at retail for a very good price (well below the cost of many games far less worthy of a gamers time).

Next week Critereon will be announcing even more DLC content so stay tuned!

Is Gears 2 this holiday seasons biggest game?

According to popular gaming-by-the-numbers site VGCharts, Gears of War 2, released on Fri Nov. 7th managed to sell up wards of 2.1 MILLION copies on day 1.

From VGCharts
Using the aforementioned data, Gears of War 2 looks to have debuted to midnight and Friday sales of 1,400,000 units in North America, and 700,000 units in 'Others' territories. This would represent about two thirds of Halo 3's massive debut, which wound up with 3.8 million units sold it's first week on the market.

It's common knowledge that VGC gets the numbers wrong on a fairly regular basis, but in this case they are pretty accurate. For Gears of War 2, EPIC studios, and their fans, this is a fantastic sign of just how massivly popular the Gears franchise has become, and with Halo 3 in the bag, and no huge HALO sequel details yet announced (Halo Wars is an RTS and RTS games are not known to do very well on consoles, and Halo 3 Recon is an expansion pack for Halo 3) It looks like the Gears of War franchise is quickly on it's way to taking the top spot as The XBOX360's flagship series.

Resistance 2 Beta Codes? Gamepro fails to deliver. (updated)

Many gamers were excited when they heard the news of Gamepro's August 08; Issue . featuring Resistance 2.

With a huge 10 page preview for R2 and a large icon slapped on the cover saying "FREE Resistance 2 Beta Codes", many gamers must have assumed the purchase to be worthwhile. Great coverage of this upcoming and potentially huge PS3 title and an opportunity to get into the beta and play the game before it hits retail, is very inticing to say the least.

When investigating the offer more closely on page 57, it more clearly states you can WIN a beta code, which goes slightly against what the cover indicates. A little snag, but hey It's not like Gamepro would have enough codes for every subscriber/one time reader right?

Well, that's not the worst of it...

Upon visiting the Gamepro site, users are greeted with even more bad news. It would appear as though there is only a chance to win codes through a contest and we were told to "come back later" for more details. (like I said, it's unlikely there were enough codes for everybody, but being a little more honest would help people from getting upset)

Anybody who did check back in, were greeted with nothing new, there were NO updates, and NO new information.

To top it all off, recently Gamepro.com re-vamped their site and the contest page is COMPLETELY GONE.

This is the link given to readers of the Aug.08' issue of Gamepro.
http://www.gamepro.com/resistance2_beta

Instead of an entry page users are greeted with a supposedly humorous 404 page There is no mention of the beta code giveaway anywhere on the site. It's odd that nobody has noticed this omission, many people spent more than 8$ on a magazine they may not even read only to find their chances went from likely, to slim, to non-existant.

Update.
Since this post, the contest page has popped up. The Key giveaway went very poorly and left many people dissappointed and without BETA access.
